With Thanksgiving quickly approaching.. we did an impromptu pole of the Treeline Interactive employees today and asked “What technology are you thankful for from 2010?”
Our top 10 answers were:
1.iPhone4 – Equipped with HD Retina display, Face-time, and Millions of new Apps
2. iPad – Simple, yet extremely powerful, and the battery lasts forever
3. Google docs Live document editing – Allowing multiple users to edit the same document independently. Great for text file sharing and editing, makes collaboration much easier
4. Skype Multi Person video chat – has been a long time coming, we are going to need more than 3 people soon, but obviously there are bandwidth restrains
5. Basecamp – With increased amount of API products available and subtle improvements throughout their user interface, they have become the go-to of online project management in our industry
6. QR Barcodes – Allows you to use your cell phone as a boarding pass or scan bar-codes with your phone camera to link to websites. Even Google’s URL shortening is now embracing these bar-codes.
7. Google voice – It transcribes your voice mails so you can quickly read thought and visually see them in your email or in the app
8. ARM9 Microcontroller – so we can use open source platforms like linux combined with our mobile skills to make robots
9. Geo- The combination of GPS chips in mobile phones, social networks, and increasingly innovative mobile apps means adding rich layers of geo-related data to finally reunite the online world with the real world
10. HTML5- supports offline data storage, drag-and-drop, Geo-Location and other features which can make Web apps act more like desktop apps
Feel free to share with us “What technology are you thankful for from 2010?”
I’m thankful for WordPress!
With 10′s of millions of blogs running wordpress, I think I’m probably not the only one who’s thankful for the great work Automattic has done.
I’m thankful that iOS 4.2 was released for the iPad today!
