Treeline’s New Fan Page

So if you aren’t already a fan or we aren’t friends on Facebook, you may have missed the news that we just launched a beta version of our new Facebook fan page. While we were able to develop it relatively quickly it has been on the task list for way too long.

Custom fan pages are a great opportunity to stay true to your brand on the worlds most popular website. With the momentum that FB has and people’s love for social marketing, I’m sure you’ll be seeing these pop up more and more often.

So go, take a look, let us know what you think and please ‘suggest this page’ to some friends if you like it. Make sure to check out the videos and the content in the different sections! While you can still click around to all of our other social content the ‘Treeline FB‘ tab is our new baby.

Hurray for Earth Day!

Every year when Earth Day comes around there is an influx of beach/park/neighborhood clean ups, tree planting, and outdoor activities all of which are fun and helpful to our environment. It’s great to see so many people participating and taking time to give back. But, sometimes life gets in the way and time disappears before the thought of a community clean up even gets penciled in to the calendar. For those with little time, I propose an Earth Day Reflection… take a couple of minutes to reflect on your green habits you’ve started this past year…

Lake Tahoe, Treeline is Back!

While many of you may already know, some might not know that Treeline’s roots reach way North into the Lake Tahoe Basin. Tahoe is where Treeline was founded and where a few of our nearest and dearest clients are located. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and luckily it is also somewhere that we get to travel to quite frequently; those needy client of ours are always forcing us to make it up to the hill to talk strategy, brainstorm their next cool interactive web offerings, and of course take some runs on the mountain. In the past we only had a few team members who were responsible for making this trek but as our operations have expanded, so have our client’s needs. Factoring this in with our interest in sharing Tahoe’s beauty with some of the So-Cal additions to Treeline, we decided that this year we had no choice but to setup a satellite office in the South Shore.

Starting this month and most likely continuing straight through the summer the Treeline team will be taking turns operating out of our nice log cabin just on the South Lake, Myers border. It is equipped with a nice little office area in addition to some sleep room for those of us who just don’t do the casino thing. As we start to settle in and take a nice new bite out of Tahoe, keep and eye open for some of the photos and stories that will be making their way back from the mountains.

Treeline SD Office Refresh

So after a long, hard, but very successful 2009 we decided that it was about time that we spent a little time refreshing the office and making some much needed upgrades. But as you know the internet never sleeps and rarely do we (or our clients) so it was pretty challenging to figure out when to make this all happen. We decided the the most acceptable time to make it all happen would be between Christmas and New Year’s, so while we were “closed for the holidays” we were actually shedding our blood and sweat and maybe even a few tears while bringing the Treeline office up to 2010 standards. While we did get almost everything done we will be continuing this project through the next few week but none the less, if you haven’t been by lately, get together a project or even just a long complicated mobile social media marketing question and get your butt down to the beach to check it all out!

Treeline Launches X-Games AIC

Treeline is proud to announce the recent launch of the new X-Games Athlete Information Center. Just a few month ago we partnered with Snow Park Technologies to a create highly interactive event management web application. Snow Park Technologies is responsible for managing and coordinating pre-event and on-hill information for all of the Winter X-Games snowboard athletes and they decided that setting up a plain old blog or a little information site just wasn’t going to cut it. After some careful planning and a little bit of dreaming we came up with an extremely powerful yet remarkably simple web application with a wide variety of features. Because the application is only for X-Games athletes and event organizers, it is a password protected environment, but we are working on putting together a brief little demo to share with all you kids back home.

…But if you just can’t wait and you need to know more here are just a few of the features of the tool:

Event and discipline specific login access so a rider’s entire UI is customized with only the information that he or she needs to know
Event schedules with both email and SMS alerts
A social wall for communicating with other athletes
Live multi-person video chat to host virtual rider meetings
A private communications module
3D interactive environments where users can navigate the courses prior to the event
Instant text message notification so if something changes during the day of the event, the athletes will be the first to know.

Crispy Gamer Facebook App is Live

This past week we wrapped up development and helped Crispy Gamer officially set their new Facebook app live. You can now check it out here http://apps.facebook.com/crispygamer , and if you challenge your friends to a quiz, you might win some free video games. Matt Zerbo of CrispyGamer.com came to Treeline with a plan for a feature rich Facebook application that would leverage friend of a friend social connections to increase brand awareness and help drive traffic traffic. After just a few short months and lot of collaboration between our teams, we are all very proud of the product.

Pay it Forward

A small gesture can make a truly amazing impact. Last week we witnessed our small gesture unfold in a nice chain of events. As many of you know, Treeline donates 10 trees to be planted in each new client’s name as one of our Green Initiatives and as to say thanks for working with us. Sometimes we get excited about other events such as expanding families, new offices, and other accomplishments.

Last month the San Diego Ad Club opened their new offices in Hillcrest and we though it was more than enough reason to do some gifting. They were more than excited to receive a framed certificate and to be part of the National Arbor Day Foundation’s reforestation project currently planting the donated trees in the Plumas National Forest. We were thrilled they appreciated their gift but even more thrilled with AdClub’s actions the following month.

At the Annual AdClub board retreat, instead of giving each of the 22 members their usual appreciation plaques, AdClub announced that they had planted 10 trees in every board member’s name. With the opening of the new office they wanted to push a number of green initiatives and their paying it forward with donated trees really touched our hearts. Those 10 trees that we gifted in their name had within months turned into 240 trees.

So please keep in mind that no thought is too small and that whenever you have a chance to make a small impact, give it a go and you’d be surprised by the effect.

Getting you online marketing in gear

We all know that it is incredibly important to use the web to market any business you have these days, but where do you start? There are many tactics that take professional design and development teams to execute but there are also hosts of other opportunities that you can tackle yourself. If you don’t know where to start here are a couple easy ways to get your feet wet:

1. You have a question, Google It! It is amazing how many answers are just under you fingertips.

2. Subscribe to a marketing blog like http://www.toprankblog.com/

3. Take a class at your local college, you can always teach an old dog new tricks.

Kim Brauer recently wrote a nice little article about breaking through this barrier and joining the online migration. She also quotes our own Jake Fields a couple of times and gives a nice little shout out to his Interactive Marketing class this fall at SDSU.

The Orchard succeeds with “Manners”

Last month we had the pleasure of working with the New York record label “The Orchard” to develop a custom iPhone app. They used the application to promote a new album release “Manners”. Work with The Orchard team was fun and senior interaction designer Christina Mercando did an amazing job of developing stunning creative that really tied the application together.

“To promote Manners in the mobile space, The Orchard partnered with Treeline Interactive design and development firm to create an alarm clock iPhone App where fans can set an alarm and wake up to “Sleepyhead” or a “Sleepyhead” remix. The Passion Pit App is now available at the Apple App store.”
