The Orchard succeeds with “Manners”

Last month we had the pleasure of working with the New York record label “The Orchard” to develop a custom iPhone app. They used the application to promote a new album release “Manners”. Work with The Orchard team was fun and senior interaction designer Christina Mercando did an amazing job of developing stunning creative that really tied the application together.

Quick Tips for iPhone Clients

We have been speaking with a handful of clients lately that are interested in building iPhone apps and they obviously have a lot of questions. In order to get you all thinking, here are a few questions that are worth considering before you get going.

What is your plan for maximizing your ROI? iPhone apps make great marketing pieces but in the end of the day it is all about dollars and cents.

What company do you want the app published under, this is listed prominently in the appStore? If you would like it to be your business you will need to get registered with Apple as developers.

Where is the data in your app coming from? If it is multimedia will it be streaming from a server, downloaded from a server or packaged within the app. If it is text or other data, will you be utilizing a local database, an XML feed or online datebase(keep in mind that the iPhone uses SQLite).

Busy Saturday

Well it is another busy Saturday at the office. Sometimes it is tough working in San Diego; even though it is mid winter and seemingly a great time to hunker down and get some work done it is a sunny 70 degrees day outside.
Despite the good weather, the office was bustling today with projects of all sorts. Adam, Gary, Alicia and I were working on the new Ad2SD website & extreme website makeover day video. Don was working on the new Promotive Media Project client management system. Jeff was busting out on iPhone app updates. George was making some upgrades to his openGL nVeil video plugin and then Casey & Mo took a couple minutes out from their fun at the Liquid Foundation block party next door to come by and say hi.
We all would have loved to be soaking up the sun and having some outdoor fun but in the end of the day stuff has to get done. It is very nice though when your work is something that you enjoy enough to come in on the weekend and be productive.

New iPhone Application in the AppStore

We just wanted to let you all know we just got another iPhone app approved by Apple and it is available in the iTunes AppStore. While we are working hard on some long term app goals and client projects, we will be releasing some other light hearted stuff along the way.
